Improvisation_2

Imrpovisation by Peter Noke January 2018

The harmonic idea here is quite simple:  two alternating harmonies - E major and D major played as a moto perpetuum in the left hand.

The rising four note figurations in the left hand have an optimisitc feel from the 2nd inversion chord shape, whilst the right plays a simple tune, making use of the mixolydian mode on E (in other words an E major scale with a D natural, instead of D sharp).

Structure and variety are achieved by expanding the range of notes to the bass and increasing the dynamics before returning to a short recapitualtion of the original idea.
