Q1. Time signature, dynamics, articulation

You will hear a piece played once. First identify the time signature, then describe the dynamics, then comment on the articulation

Part 1. Is the music in 2/4 time, 3/4 time, 4/4 time, 5/8 time or 6/8 time?

Part 2.

The outer sections were played forte and the middle section was played piano. The changes in dynamics were quite sudden, not gradual.
The piece started forte and the changes in dynamics were always gradual, with a diminuendo to piano and then a crescendo to forte.

Part 3.

The articulation was mainly detached but with occasional slurred pairs of notes.
The right hand quavers were played legato but the chords played hands together were often staccato.

Part 1.

There were three distinct sections which were characterized by major-minor-major tonalities.
The piece was through-composed, consisting of one long section with different ideas.

Part 2.

The harmonies were often dissonant but the final tierce de picardie helped to give an overall major feel to the harmony.
The clashing harmonies in the outer sections and the modal feel of the middle section suggests a piece of 20th Century music.

Part 3.

The characteristics of folk dance were evoked through the constant two plus three of the 5/8 rhythmic pattern.
The unstable rhythm gave the character an unsettled musical effect with a feel of unpredictability.
